The Revivalists
with Sneaky Pete and the Secret Weapons
Since forming in 2007, the seven-piece New Orleans roots-driven rock band logged countless miles on the road, cultivating a high octane live show and a studio presence equally steeped in instrumental virtuosity and charismatic vocal magnetism. What’s unique about The Revivalists is that the band defies categorization. They take elements of rock, soul, country, funk, roots, and folk, throw it in the pot, and cook up an addictive, spicy musical jambalaya. This is a band with solid chops, solid songs, and a range of styles and influences. Their wide array of musical colors and Shaw’s thoughtful lyrics give them a very rich palette to paint from in studio and on stage. Recently named to Rolling Stone’s March 2016 “10 New Artists You Need to Know”, the New Orleans-based septet’s third full length Men Amongst Mountains bowed at Number Two on the Billboard Alternative Albums Chart last year and found traction on Spotify, where they have amassed over 2 million streams.

Galactic
with Canyon Kids
It’s been more than 20 years since Ben Ellman, Robert Mercurio, Stanton Moore, Jeff Raines and Rich Vogel began exploring the seemingly limitless musical possibilities born out of their work together as Galactic. Since then, the seminal New Orleans band has consistently pushed artistic boundaries on the road and in the studio, approaching their music with open ears and drawing inspiration as much from the sounds bubbling up from their city’s streets as they do from each other. Over the years, the band’s sound has evolved from organic New Orleans funk to a more modern style, incorporating elements of hip hop, electronica, fusion, and jazz. This change has been largely characterized by the increased use of electronic effects on guitar, bass, saxophone, and drums. Galactic has been a sell-out staple in the Knotty Pine’s annual winter music lineup, and JacksonHoleLive is thrilled to bring “the best backing band on Earth” along with fiery New Orleans vocalist Erica Falls to the Jackson community this summer.

The Record Company
with Major Zephyr and Wendy Colonna
The Record Company write and play raw, sincere rock n’ roll. Influenced by the rough honesty of their heroes – blues-men like John Lee Hooker, early punk bands like The Stooges, and rock greats like The Rolling Stones. Their sound incorporates slide guitar, distorted bass, a garage-sale Ludwig drum kit and the heartland-hued voice of Chris Vos, who grew up on a Wisconsin dairy farm. The three-man group started in late 2011, hanging up some old mics and recording live in the bass player’s living room in Los Feliz, CA. The Record Company have since played concert halls across North America, sharing the stage with acts as diverse as B.B. King, Social Distortion, Buddy Guy, Grace Potter, and Trombone Shorty. The band toured Europe supporting Blackberry Smoke in Oct-Nov 2015, and their first full-length album “Give It Back to You” was released on February 12, 2016.

Shovels & Rope
with Jalan Crossland
Shovels & Rope are an American folk duo (in numbers, not sound) from Charleston, South Carolina composed of husband and wife Michael Trent and Cary Ann Hearst. Combining threads from their individual solo careers, Shovels & Rope blends traditional folk, rock and roll, country rock, and punk rock. Trent, 34, (left) and Hearst, 32, seem like polar opposites, and their decidedly different geographical roots are largely responsible for that. The Denver dude had trouble staying in a “horrible private school” before graduating in 1996, while the Mississippi missy often traveled the City of New Orleans train from Hazelhurst to Yazoo City. But they eventually found commonality in a wanderlust that landed them in Charleston, South Carolina. The pair started making music that’s “equal parts spirited and raucous as well as poignant and tender,” according to Hearst. Feeling a musical kinship with couples as varied as John Doe-Exene Cervenka of X and the Knitters and Gram Parsons-Emmylou Harris, they were particularly inspired by the rough-and-smooth combination of Lucinda Williams and Elvis Costello.
